AKIACHAK, Alaska (AP) - A 30-year-old southwest Alaska woman died after she fell off a snowmobile.
Alaska State Troopers have forwarded criminal charges against the driver to the Bethel district attorney.
Troopers say Alfreda Evan of Akiak (AK-ee-ak) died in the incident Wednesday morning.
She was riding on the Gweek River Trail west of the village of Akiachak (AK-ee-ah-chak) when she fell.
Troopers say the 33-year-old man driving the snowmobile was intoxicated. They have recommended charges of driving under the influence and criminally negligent homicide.
Online court records showed no charges filed as of Thursday morning.
Akiachak is on the Kuskokwim River about 18 miles northeast of Bethel.
