NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Friday morning’s rush hour commute in parts of New Jersey could be a messy one.

Weather forecasters are predicting up to six inches of snow in parts of northern New Jersey. Newark is forecast to get between 3 and 5 inches.

The National Weather Service says a winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday to 2 p.m. Friday.

The southern parts of the state are only expected to get an inch of snow or less.

New Jersey Transit says it will have cross-honoring in effect all day Friday. IT plans to operate on a regular weekday schedule but warns it may have to modify service as conditions change.
