CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Forecasters at the National Weather Service have posted a tornado watch for a portion of northeastern North Carolina.

The storm prediction center said the watch was in effect until 10 p.m. Friday. The counties impacted by the watch are Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Granville, Halifax, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Person, Vance and Warren counties.

In addition, 11 counties in southeastern Virginia were under a tornado watch until 10 p.m.
