BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut State Police say a Bridgeport police officer shot an armed teenage suspect in the face during a robbery investigation.
Police detectives were talking to an 18-year-old suspect and a 16-year-old suspect at about 7 p.m. Wednesday when an altercation ensued. One of the officers fired at least one round and hit the 18-year-old suspect in the face.
He was hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening. The 16-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and wasn’t injured.
Police say both suspects were armed but did not say what kinds of weapons they had. Both are facing weapons and robbery charges.
State police are conducting a use of force investigation.
Police say there is no threat to the public. No names have been released.
