NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The Latest on Oklahoma Fires (all times local):
6:30 p.m.
Residents who were forced out of their homes because of a wildfire in northeast Norman have been allowed to return.
About 100 people were ordered to leave their homes after the fire began shortly before 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Drew Daily with Oklahoma Forestry Services told reporters Friday afternoon that forward progress of the fire has been stopped after burning about .2 of a square mile near Lake Thunderbird.
Daily said firefighters would likely remain on scene into the night and return on Saturday to make sure the fire remains contained.
Norman Fire Chief Travis King said the cause of the fire was not immediately known and remains under investigation.
The fire was one of several in Oklahoma on Friday, including one that forced the closing of Interstate 40 in Pottawatomie County for about three hours.

A fire burning in northeast Norman has forced about 100 people from their homes and closed roads in the area.
Norman Fire Chief Travis King told The Norman Transcript residents were forced to leave Friday as about 1½ square miles burned near Lake Thunderbird. King said firefighters expect to work into the night to contain the blaze.
Oklahoma Forestry Services Fire Management Chief Mark Goeller said a helicopter is being used to drop water on the Norman fire and another fire that was burning in Alfalfa County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says east- and west-bound Interstate 40 in Pottawatomie County was closed for about three hours because of a grass fire and roads in Comanche County were closed for a short time, also because of a grass fire.

Several wildfires are burning in Oklahoma, including one in northeast Norman that’s threatening homes and led to evacuations.
Norman Fire and Police Departments report the fire Friday is near Lake Thunderbird and several roads are closed. No injuries are reported and spokeswoman Sarah Jensen said it isn’t known how many homes were evacuated, but the area is just less than one square mile.
