BENTON, La. (AP) - A Bossier Parish sheriff’s deputy has been fired after his arrest on a charge of drinking while driving.
The sheriff’s office says 58-year-old John Jeter was pulled over Thursday in his personal vehicle on Highway 527 about 9:30 p.m. by a Louisiana State Police trooper who says he saw him swerving.
Authorities say Jeter was arrested on a charge of first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.
Jeter, who has been with the sheriff’s office since August 2010, was transported to the parish jail. He was released Friday after posting $1,200 bond.
It was unknown whether he has an attorney.
