MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Police are investigating a homicide in downtown Madison.

Police Chief Mike Koval says the victim is a man in his mid-40s. Koval says the man’s roommate returned to the apartment Monday afternoon after a weekend away and found the victim. The date or time of death isn’t yet known.

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office said the death is a homicide because of the nature of the wounds. Authorities haven’t said how the man died. Koval says no suspects are in custody.
