CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The 47-year-old former Wyoming doctor accused of sexually assaulting female patients has been bound over for trial.
Paul Harnetty is charged with eight counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault.
He originally faced 12 counts, but during a preliminary hearing Thursday Natrona County Circuit Court Judge Michael Patchen dismissed two counts because there wasn’t enough evidence.
Six women have told police the gynecologist assaulted them during exams in 2014 and 2015 while he practiced in Casper.
Harnetty’s attorney, John Miner, countered Thursday that it’s possible the doctor was just performing thorough exams.
Harnetty is free on $50,000 bail while he awaits further court proceedings. He has voluntarily relinquished his Wyoming medical license.
