SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Gov. Gary Herbert signed 51 bills Tuesday and is spending a good chunk of his Wednesday reviewing more legislation that lawmakers sent to his desk this year.
The bills Herbert’s office announced had been signed Tuesday include a measure requiring college counselors and advocates to keep confidential a student’s disclosure that they’re a victim of sex abuse, dating violence and other issues. It creates an exception if the counselor or advocate is required to report it to authorities under other laws or if the student gives permission.
Another measure requires Utah colleges and universities to post information online about degree programs, including data about job placements and wages students earn after going through the program.
Herbert has signed 234 of the 535 bills Utah lawmakers passed this year.
