CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire Executive Council has voted 3-2 to confirm Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut for a full, four-year term.
The vote on Wednesday followed the council’s vote earlier this year for Edelblut to complete the term of former Commissioner Virginia Barry.
Edelblut, a Republican candidate for governor last year, was supported by the three Republican councilors, and opposed by the two Democrats.
Earlier this year, Democratic Councilor Andru Volinsky said he was concerned Edelblut didn’t disclose when he was under consideration for commissioner that he made an anonymous contribution to help finance a school board’s legal battle against the department he now heads.
