NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - A boil order in Normal that was prompted by a ruptured water main last week has been lifted.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph (https://bit.ly/2mPMMJ9 ) reports that the city lifted the boil order late Saturday afternoon after water sampling tested was completed.

The water main split open late Thursday, causing millions of gallons of water to pour out. Officials canceled classes Friday at Epiphany School after the water reached nearly eight inches in some rooms.

Normal’s communications director Dan Irvin says that the order was issued as a precaution as required by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. He says the laboratory testing showed that the water quality was not compromised.
