STONY POINT, N.Y. (AP) - Fire officials in Rockland County are investigating a series of brush fires along the CSX train line.

Authorities tell the Journal News (https://lohud.us/2mObUk5 ) that the fires started around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in Stony Point and West Haverstraw. Officials say more than 100 firefighters from six departments were called to contain the blazes along the train line.

Authorities say the fires were put out by 7 p.m.

Officials say no one was hurt.

A spokesman for CSX says they believe a piece of debris dragging underneath a train caused sparks, which then ignited brush along the tracks.

Rockland Fire and Emergency Services director Gordon Wren Jr. says an investigation is ongoing.
