NEWPORT, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas’ corrections department says employees’ homes at a prison in Newport were heavily damaged and one person was injured during severe storms Thursday night.

Arkansas Department of Correction spokesman Solomon Graves says six mobile homes used for employee housing at the Grimes Unit were damaged in the severe weather.

Graves says one employee was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Graves says damage also occurred at the prison’s gym, on air-conditioning units and to exterior storage buildings.

No inmates were injured in the storms.
