DOVER, Del. (AP) - A female substance abuse counselor who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 16-year-old male client has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

Rebecca Winters was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in December to three counts of fourth-degree rape.

Winters was charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust, as well as providing alcohol to a minor, following an investigation involving a boy receiving treatment at Crossroads of Delaware.

Crossroads, a for-profit drug and alcohol counseling center in Milford, closed last year.

While in prison, Winters must complete a sex offender program. She must also register as a sex offender.
