WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts woman is heading to prison for her role in the fatal accident that killed a 70-year-old man.

The Telegram and Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/2rZgkqi ) that 39-year-old Rebecca Brooks, of Northbridge, pleaded guilty to motor vehicle homicide while driving negligently and under the influence of alcohol and driving to endanger. Brooks will spend 2 1/2 years in prison.

Police say Brooks left her bartending job in Whitinsville and fatally struck Theophilos Raptis as he was crossing a street in 2016. Authorities say Brooks said Raptis ran out in front of him.

Brooks’ sentence also includes a year of house arrest and three years of probation. A judge ordered that Brooks must abstain from using drugs and alcohol during probation.
