It happened Wednesday just before midnight.

Police say the woman had been arguing with her boyfriend, who’s a California Highway Patrol employee.

Both left a home but as the man drove away, police say the woman fired several shots at him.

The boyfriend wasn’t hit but he called police.

Officers quickly spotted the woman, who had a handgun. Police say they repeatedly ordered her to drop the weapon but instead she pointed it at them and the officers shot her.
