GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky board has approved a permit for a 150-foot (45.72-meter) flagpole that’ll fly a giant American flag after initially denying it.
The Georgetown Board of Adjustment approved a permit that would allow the 5,000-square foot (464.51-sq. meter) flag to fly in a 4-0 vote Monday.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports (https://bit.ly/2sN56SU ) Camping World applied for a high-rise sign and 130-foot flagpole in January. The board approved the sign, but denied the flagpole because it would have been considered a second interstate sign. City ordinances allow only one sign per parcel.
Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis tweeted about the decision in April. The city council approved the permit in May that would make a distinction between commercial signs and the American flag.
The Camping World will open Saturday.
