Minor flooding as major mountain snow melts in Wyoming

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Major snowmelt is causing minor flooding in low-lying areas of western Wyoming.

The National Weather Service has issued flood watches for Jackson Hole, the upper Green River Basin and the high country south and west of Cody.

Flows on the Snake River are creeping up to flood stage. Forecasters say flood levels could happen sometime Tuesday.

Teton County Emergency Management Coordinator Rich Ochs tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide (https://bit.ly/2rLJ5H6) it won’t be a major flood.

Low-lying areas already flooded include a park next to Flat Creek in Jackson.

The flooding comes as unusually deep snow melts in the high country.
