Most NBA players spend the offseason relaxing, taking things slow after a long, physically and sometimes emotionally draining season.
Not Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat. The “Polish Hammer” has spent the last week in Iraq and Kuwait, visiting American, Polish, and Italian armed forces stationed throughout the Middle East.
Gortat has been documenting his trip (as he documents almost everything) on Twitter, posting pictures of himself meeting and sharing meals with soldiers.

The 7-footer, who averaged a double-double last season while helping the Wizards reach the Eastern Conference semifinals, also attended a basketball game between American and Polish troops in Kuwait, the U.S. contingent defeating Gortat’s countrymen.
