NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say a 26-year-old man has been jailed on firearm charges including possession as a convicted felon.

The Times-Picayune reports Jonathan J. Williams was booked Wednesday after police found him with marijuana and a .357 revolver with an attached laser at a home in the Broadmoor neighborhood.

Police say officers conducting surveillance noticed a white Honda Accord believed to be involved in a number of auto burglaries in the area. Investigators say before losing sight of the vehicle as the car left, a person was seen exiting it and entering the home where Williams was found inside.

Police say a search also found an assault-style rifle and three handguns in Williams’ bedroom.

Records say a $40,000 bond is set for Williams. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
