JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A man drowned when he decided to go swimming in a Florida river while hanging out with friends.

The Florida Times-Union reports the 54-year-old man began struggling in the water and became motionless on Wednesday afternoon. One of his friends tried to reach him, but wasn’t able to because of a swift current in the Trout River.

Rescue crews on a fire department boat recovered the man’s body.

His name hasn’t been released.

Authorities say they’re investigating but don’t suspect foul play.
