GREENWOOD, Del. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in the midst of storms in Delaware.

News outlets report the tornado landed on Monday in the Greenwood area. National Weather Service officials say visual evidence along with radar data helped to confirm the tornado. Straight-line winds reached 90 mph (144 kph) and nearly 2,000 homes were left in the dark.

The Delaware Electric Cooperative sustained damaged to several structures at its headquarters.
