LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police in Las Vegas say a man was shot and killed when he lunged at officers with a knife in a bedroom of an apartment following a report of a domestic argument involving a woman and a child.
Capt. Kelly McMahill said the man was shot multiple times a little before 1 a.m. Tuesday after officers used two stun guns but he failed to surrender.
He was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. His name wasn’t immediately made public.
McMahill says the woman and small child came out of the apartment several miles west of the Las Vegas Strip before officers began searching inside.
She says the man was found in a closet and refused to put the knife down.
The two officers are on paid leave pending investigations of the shooting.
