GRANTS, N.M. (AP) - An anonymous tip has led to the capture of a man who was on the run for nearly a week after escaping from the Cibola County Detention Center.
State police received a tip Monday evening as to the whereabouts of 22-year-old Ramon Lorenzo. He was taken into custody in the Grants area without incident and turned over to state corrections officials.
Authorities say he’s going to be housed in maximum security at the state prison in Santa Fe. They say he has a history of violent criminal behavior, including convictions for aggravated battery and armed robbery.
Multiple people who were with Lorenzo when he was captured have been charged with harboring or aiding a felon.
It’s believed Lorenzo jumped a fence while in a recreation yard and climbed down a wall before fleeing the county jail on June 13.
