HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police in Hartford have charged a man with fatally shooting another man in what authorities say was an ongoing feud.

Deputy Chief Brian Foley says 24-year-old Samuel Stevenson was arrested Monday. Stevenson faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a firearm in the June 11 shooting. It couldn’t be determined Tuesday if Stevenson has retained an attorney.

Police say 33-year-old Timothy Burt Jr. was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the city’s North End. They say the suspect fled the scene.

Officers performed life-saving efforts at the scene and Burt was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The killing was the city’s 12th homicide of the year.

Police say Burt and Stevenson had been involved in “several altercations” before the shooting.
