SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - A 32-year-old California man will be booked in Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of arson and homicide after detectives say he started a fire in his family’s home that ended up killing his mother.

The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/2rMNgnj ) firefighters went to the call Sunday and found the man and his father outside, but the 66-year-old mother was trapped.

Firefighters found her body near a bathroom in the back of the residence.

Detectives say evidence of a flammable substance in the area of the suspect’s bedroom indicates he might have started the blaze.
