PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - State officials say heavy rains have flooded some roads in the Paducah area.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet McCracken County Highway Maintenance Crew tweeted Sunday evening that water was covering roadways in “numerous locations” there.

Police have been blocking some spots because floodwaters had grown so deep.

Skies were expected to clear Sunday evening, but officials said flooding could continue to be a problem for several hours.

The National Weather Service in Paducah said scattered thunderstorms were possible in parts of southeast Missouri and into western Kentucky and far southern Illinois late Sunday.
