MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) - A man who was shot and wounded by police after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at an officer has been indicted on attempted murder charges.

Morris County prosecutors say Dylan Howard also faces charges of theft, burglary and other counts in the indictment handed up by a county grand jury.

The 24-year-old Butler man was shot four times inside his grandparents’ home in March 2016. Police went there after residents reported seeing a man disguised as an old woman.

Authorities say Howard was shot after he moved his hand toward the trigger of a shotgun and refused to drop it.

The Butler officer who shot Howard was cleared last summer by another county grand jury that reviewed the case.
