PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the death of his passenger in a drunken driving crash.

The Panama City News Herald (https://goo.gl/LZQP3h ) reports that 35-year-old Brian Helms was sentenced after pleading no contest Thursday to DUI manslaughter and several other charges.

Authorities say Helms was fleeing police and driving more than 100 mph on a Panama City Beach street in September 2015 when he ran a red light and hit a delivery truck. The crash killed his passenger, 38-year-old Tiffany Quimby, and injured two men in the truck.

Helms and Quimby had been suspects in a grand theft at Walmart two days before the crash. A police officer had tried to pull Helms over, but he sped away.
