CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The North Carolina Department of Transportation has targeted a 5-mile (8-kilometer) span of Interstate 77 to help improve safety in a construction zone.

The Charlotte Observer reports (https://bit.ly/2retn6z ) that crews will begin work on Wednesday to refresh lane striping within the 26-mile (42-kilometer) work zone for the interstate’s toll lane project. NCDOT anticipates the project will be completed by Saturday morning.

NCDOT Jen Thompson says recent traffic shifts associated with the construction project have made it unclear where drivers should be, so the department wants to refresh faded areas to mitigate confusion.
