NEW YORK (AP) - Reservations will be open Monday for the 25th anniversary of New York City’s restaurant week, where eateries around the city offer deals for customers.

The week is actually a month long, beginning July 24 and ending Aug. 18 and 390 restaurants are participating this year. The idea started in 1992 by Joe Baum and Tim Zagat, who created Zagat’s restaurant guide. Restaurants offer three-course prix-fixe lunches for $29 and dinners for $42, not including beverages or tips.

The city’s tourism arm, NYC & Company says the initiative helps bring tourists to the “dining capital of the world,” and gives New Yorkers a chance to dine at fancy restaurants for a steal.
