NORTH CONWAY, N.H. (AP) - Campgrounds are getting back to normal after storms and flash flooding evacuated campers last weekend in northern New Hampshire.

Marianne Leberman, recreation and wilderness program leader at the White Mountain National Forest, told the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce this week that all the camping sites and day use picnic areas are now open in the forest.

She said while a few of the natural swimming holes were closed over the weekend due to high water from the rain, they have now been re-opened. She said water levels are still high in many of the forest rivers and tributaries, so people should proceed in and around these water areas with caution.

Marilyn O’Boyle at Beach Camping Area along the Saco River in North Conway said after evacuations during the weekend, nearly all campsites are open now.
