NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The contract of the top executive at the Virginia Port Authority has been extended another three years.

The Virginian Pilot reports that the Virginia Port Authority’s board has voted to extend CEO John Reinhart contract through Feb. 10, 2022. The 63-year-old’s contract was initially supposed to expire in 2019.

Reinhart has served as CEO and executive director since 2014. Before that he was CEO of shipping company Maersk Line Limited.



Under Reinhart’s leadership, the port’s finances have stabilized and container volume has risen to record levels.
