BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - The Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington will soon be host to a series of exhibits created by the University of Illinois’ genomic biology institute.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports (https://bit.ly/2vCLEdh ) that “The Art of Science” exhibits feature large, artistically enhanced representations of scientific research.
Previous installations have been at Chicago’s Midway and O’Hare international airports and the Illinois State Capitol building in Springfield. They have featured enlarged microscope slides of rat tissue used in food research and oil, water and sediment used in examining the effects of oil spills.
Airport and institute officials say the exhibits will open in a couple of months. The exhibits will remain in Bloomington for at least a year with 15 to 20 pieces going up and 140 in storage that can be swapped out.
