CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Weather officials have canceled a heat advisory for parts of West Virginia.

Rainfall in some areas kept temperatures cooler than expected, prompting the National Weather Service to cancel the advisory it had issued for 10 counties for Friday afternoon in the western and southern parts of the state.

However, the weather service says oppressive heat could hit parts of the state on Saturday.

The heat index is a measure of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature.
