COLUMBUS, Minn. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed storm damage in the Columbus and Forest Lake area was caused by a tornado.

Forecasters say the EF-1 twister was on the ground for nearly 9 miles early Wednesday morning. The weather service surveyed structural damage to determine it was caused by a tornado.

It says the thunderstorms started with straight line winds in Anoka and Washington counties.
