GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago community college has named a building after a soldier from Wheaton who died in Afghanistan and received the Medal of Honor .

The College of DuPage last week named its Homeland Security Education Center after 24-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Robert Miller. The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2tFDpNQ ) Miller’s parents say they hope his sense of duty inspires students who train to become firefighters and police in the center on the Glen Ellyn campus.

Miller received the Medal of Honor for saving the lives of fellow soldiers during an insurgent ambush in Afghanistan in 2008. He was killed in the attack.

There’s a memorial to Miller in the building with pictures of him in his Boy Scout uniform and co-captain of the Wheaton North High School gymnastics team.
