HOUSTON (AP) - Houston police say two people have been arrested after at least one allegedly fired multiple shots at an unmarked police car, narrowly missing an officer.

Chief Art Acevedo says his agency’s recently formed criminal apprehension team was conducting surveillance around 3 a.m. Monday in a southeast Houston neighborhood when someone in a home opened fire on the undercover vehicle.

Acevedo says the police car was hit multiple times and one shot narrowly missed the officer in the driver’s seat.

Officers at the scene did not return fire. Two suspects fled the home but were arrested after a brief chase.

Police didn’t immediately release details on charges, names of the suspects or a possible motive for the shooting.

Acevedo says the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
