CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi judge says an 18-year-old is “fully competent” to stand trial on a capital murder charge.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports Brooklyn Traylor of Corinth underwent a psychological evaluation to help determine his mental competence.
He is charged with the February 2016 killing of 43-year-old gas station clerk Kris Ledlow in Corinth.
Circuit Court Judge Paul Funderburk reviewed records from youth court and mental facilities. Funderburk says his ruling was based mostly on the psychologist’s report that showed Traylor understood issues related to the court process.
Another man, 25-year-old Micah Bostic, is also charged with capital murder in the killing of Ledlow. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty against either Bostic or Traylor.
Traylor attended the hearing Friday with attorney Tyler Moss.
