CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Police have declined to charge a Chattanooga man in the fatal shooting of a teenager who tried to rob him at gunpoint.
The Chattanooga Times-Free Press (https://bit.ly/2isbkmo ) reports that investigators decided 30-year-old Joshua Smith acted within the law when he shot 19-year-old Steven Hurston 11 times at a Hixson apartment complex last March.
Police believe Hurston and a woman lured Smith to the complex and tried to rob him.
Twenty-year-old Taylor Smith is charged with attempted aggravated robbery. She is not related to Joshua Smith, who told police that he connected with the woman through a website and arranged to meet her.
