Authorities on alert for human trafficking at stock show

DENVER (AP) - Authorities are on high alert for human trafficking as crowds come to Denver for the National Western Stock Show.

KUSA-TV reports (https://on9news.tv/2ijRDgI ) that Deputy Shay Haney with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office says the large number of tourists coming to the show can attract human traffickers.

The stock show attracted more than 680,000 people last year.

Investigators are working to check websites popular with traffickers to identify victims and try to find their captors.

In 2015, a coalition of law enforcement agencies rescued six minors and arrested two traffickers the week before and during the stock show.
