Authorities determine Sheridan County inmate died by suicide

SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities have ruled the death of a Sheridan County Detention Center inmate a suicide.

The Sheridan Press reports (https://bit.ly/2hZ5bAm ) that 45-year-old Richard Hill died at the jail on Dec. 26. The sheriff’s office, which runs the detention center, has released no details about how the suicide was carried out.

Sheriff Dave Hofmeier says jail staff works to ensure inmates’ safety and closely monitor those on suicide watch.

The death remains under investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
