BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - This snow season is a record setter for Bismarck.

As of Monday, North Dakota’s capital has received 53.1 inches of snow so far this season. National Weather Service meteorologist Michael Mathews tells The Bismarck Tribune (https://bit.ly/2ibxLfE ) that is the most snow ever accumulated to date for Bismarck.

The previous record of 49.3 inches through Jan. 2 was set in the 1993-94 snowfall season.

Mathews says the latest blast of snow - 8 inches - that fell Sunday evening through Monday put Bismarck over the top this season.

Another record in Bismarck was set Monday, with 21 inches of snow depth - the deepest the city has ever had during the month of January. It’s tied for the third deepest of all time, with 21 inches in 2010.
