AMERICAN FORK, Utah (AP) - Authorities in northern Utah say a suspect who allegedly fired gunshots at an American Fork police officer has turned himself in.
American Fork police Sgt. Josh Christensen told KLS-TV (https://tinyurl.com/zv69z9s) Monday the shots were fired Sunday night at an officer who was responding to a domestic violence incident.
Christensen says the officer parked down the street with his car lights off and was waiting for backup when a suspect drove away from the scene.
The suspect tried unsuccessfully to ram into the patrol car, then returned and fired several rounds into the back of the patrol car.
The officer wasn’t injured.
Christensen says a short time later, the man’s parents escorted him to the American Fork police station where he surrendered.
His name has not been released. An investigation is continuing.
