EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - A Canadian-based forestry and sawmilling company is planning to update and re-start a sawmill complex in El Dorado.

Officials with Conifex Timber Inc. joined Gov. Asa Hutchinson and local officials Monday in announcing an $80 million dollar investment in the operation that was formerly owned by Georgia Pacific.

Conifex CEO Ken Shields said the project provides the company with access to lumber and timber markets in the southern United States.

Conifex was established in 2008 and primarily manufactures structural grade Spruce Pine Fir lumber.
