MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say an 18-year-old firefighter has been charged with arson after he intentionally set a fire at the drug store where he worked part time.

The State Law Enforcement Division said in a news release it arrested Randy Cannon Jr. on Thursday, a day after no one was injured in the small fire which led to the evacuation of the Walgreens in Moncks Corner.

Multiple media outlets reported Cannon was a firefighter for Moncks Corner and a nearby volunteer station.

An arrest warrant says Cannon was seen on video going into a locked room and leaving. No one else goes into the room before people begin running out of the store because of the smoke.

Cannon is charged with second-degree arson. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
