DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware transportation officials say several road restrictions remain in effect after high winds and heavy rains pelted the mid-Atlantic region, flooding roadways and toppling trees and power lines.
Route 1 between Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach, including the bridge over the Indian River Inlet, remained closed in both directions early Tuesday but was reopened later in the day.
Officials warned, however, that the road may need to be partially or fully closed during the evening high tide.
Several other roads in Sussex and Kent counties also were closed because of standing water or debris.
In New Castle County, trees and power lines were blocking several roads, including Centerville Road at Boxwood Road and U.S. Route 40 at LaGrange Avenue.
