INDIANA, Pa. (AP) - A state prison inmate has pleaded guilty in a murder-for-hire plot foiled by an undercover police officer posing as a go-between named Joanie Pepperoni.

The Indiana Gazette (https://bit.ly/2j22z25 ) reports that 49-year-old Gregory Rouzer pleaded guilty Friday in Indiana County to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

In exchange, prosecutors dropped counts of criminal solicitation to commit homicide and criminal conspiracy to commit homicide. Rouzer’s girlfriend, Laraine Patterson, faces trial next month on those charges.

Prosecutors alleged that the pair wanted to kill a Fulton County man that Rouzer was convicted of shooting in 2008 and trying to have him killed in another foiled murder-for-hire plot in 2009. He’s serving a 19- to 60-year term at the State Correctional Institution-Pine Grove, about 50 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
