The cold weather that started the week is quickly becoming a distant memory in northern New England.
The National Weather Service says it’s going to be sunny with highs topping 50 degrees across much of southern Maine and New Hampshire on Wednesday.
Meteorologist Tom Hawley said the temperature in Portland will approach the record of 54 in Portland, which was set in 1983.
The thaw will continue through the week, with temperatures in the 40s on Thursday and Friday in much of Maine and New Hampshire.
