1:30 p.m.

Mesa police say they’ve arrested a woman in connection with a hit-and-run accident that has critically injured a 7-year-old boy.

Police say 23-year-old Maria De Jesus Cabrera Davila has been booked into jail on suspicion of failure to remain at the scene of a serious injury accident.

Court records show Davila holds only a learner’s permit and didn’t have a licensed driver in the vehicle with her at the time of Wednesday morning’s accident.

Based on her statements, police say Davila was aware that he hit the child and fled the scene because she panicked.
